Standard 7: Multimodal Literacy

Students will acquire, refine, and share knowledge through a variety of written, oral, visual, digital, non-verbal, and interactive texts. 

 

WRITING: Students will create multimodal texts to communicate knowledge and develop arguments.

 Instructional Guidance 

Developing 
  • Working in groups, students will use props or illustrations to share information.
  • Provide support to students in using apps such as Seesaw, students record as well as take pictures and videos of their learning. It is added to a digital portfolio that their parents can access.
Approaching 
  • Provide students with opportunities to use a variety of apps such as Seesaw, Chatterpix, and/or Puppet pals to support communication.
  • Students should have a opportunities to use provided resources such as flannel boards, props, puppets, and/or pictures to encourage communication.
Understanding 
  • Students choose from a variety of topics and use tools to present the information, as well as their own thoughts and feelings on the topic. Tools to help communicate their presentation may be:
    • Movie apps
    • Book creator apps,
    • Document camera
    • Visual aids
    • Seesaw digital portfolio app
  • Students present on topic to share information learned. Students will use an image projected on the screen from a computer or document camera, to enhance their presentation.

Deeper

Acquisition 

  • Allow students to take photos and/or videos on any given topic which are then added to a movie app of their choice to create a movie of their pictures.
