As a whole group, teacher models writing sentences, proper names names and the pronoun “I”, days of the week, and months of the year.

Provide students with resources to use when writing names, and the pronoun “I”, days of the week, and months of the year.

As students dictate a sentence, write the sentence correctly using a highlighter. Then students trace the sentence.

Provide students pictures and guide them through the thought process as they write a sentence.

During morning message, have students circle capitals at the beginning and periods. Include question marks in morning messages.
