 Instructional Guidance 

Developing  Sort cards with pictures of nouns into categories. (e.g. people, places, things)
Approaching  Have students identify the action word in a sentence by playing “Teachers says” (version of  Simon Says). After the teacher gives a direction, the student must repeat the action word before asking, “Teacher may I?”
Understanding 

Demonstrate the use of the pronoun I.  Have the students contribute to a class discussion with the sentence “I like_________”.

Act out prepositions.  Put your pencil on your desk, under your desk, in your desk.  

Deeper

Acquisition 

Sort cards with words into categories. (e.g. people, places, things)
