OAS Grammar Companion |
-
At this level, the standards imply that explicit instruction of grammar and mechanics content has already taken place. Students should be applying what they have learned from previous grades in their various forms of communication.
-
However, this does not mean that we stop teaching grammar/mechanics. Instruction at this point should be needs-based. Teachers can analyze student work and determine which students would benefit from targeted mini-lessons.
|
Due to recursive nature of the standards, it is essential that teachers are aware of how all objectives within and between strands work together for optimal instruction.
