Supporting Resources

Teacher Insights

  • Students with developed collaboration skills are able to consider many points of view and perspectives.

  • Students will need to develop and meet expectations and guidelines individually for their contributions in meeting the objective of the group, which is to convey and support a clear main idea.

  • Students need to understand there are multiple perspectives to consider beyond their own. Students need to understand that various ideas contribute to a well-supported main idea.

  • Compromise is not a sign of weakness, and all parties will need to give something up in order to reach consensus.

  • Diverse groups could be created with respect to a variety of factors including but not limited to gender, race, age, and interests.

Due to recursive nature of the standards, it is essential that teachers are aware of how all objectives within and between strands work together for optimal instruction.
