Summary vs. Paraphrasing (Website)
  • A research report mandates that students work through the research process for a final written product. A report can mean a traditional paper, but it could also be presented in a poster, pamphlet, presentation, etc.

  • While typical research papers involve supporting an opinion or a claim, reports, no matter how they are presented, must represent an objective summary of the most relevant information gathered according to teacher-directed guidelines.

Due to recursive nature of the standards, it is essential that teachers are aware of how all objectives within and between strands work together for optimal instruction.
