Guiding Students Through Expository Texts With Text Feature Walks (Website)

  • The intent of this standard is that students make connections between a text and how the information they gather from its text features can help them interpret and understand its purpose.
    • This standard builds on the expectation that students move beyond simply identifying the graphic features to actually using them to help them understand the message of the text.

Due to recursive nature of the standards, it is essential that teachers are aware of how all objectives within and between strands work together for optimal instruction.
