Teacher Insights
- The intention of this standard is for students to acknowledge connections between topics and sources. At this level, students extrapolate information from sources and organize findings.
- Graphic organizers are one way to help students generate ideas for a list and organize information.
- Using a graphic organizer can help students narrow their ideas and thoughts to be able to choose one specific topic.
- Using too many graphic organizers can confuse students. Have each student use the same one, at least while introducing the lesson.
Due to recursive nature of the standards, it is essential that teachers are aware of how all objectives within and between strands work together for optimal instruction.
