  • The intent of this standard is that students make connections between a text and the information they gather from text features.
    • This standard builds on the first-grade standard by expecting students to move beyond simply identifying the graphic features to actually using them to help them understand the text they are reading.

Due to recursive nature of the standards, it is essential that teachers are aware of how all objectives within and between strands work together for optimal instruction.
