- Students will put major events from a text in sequential order using beginning, middle, and end or first, next, last.

- Teachers read aloud a fiction text.
- Teachers use cards with pictures or text to put events from the story in the correct order.
- Teachers model the use of transition words when sequencing the events of a story or text.
- Teachers use graphic organizers such as story maps to create understanding of sequencing.
- Teachers provide opportunities for students to practice this skill alone or in groups.
- Teachers monitor and provide opportunities for students to receive feedback as students are sequencing the events/plot of a story or text.
