  • The role is the part an author and/or illustrator plays in a book. Students will need to independently name the author(s) of the story and the illustrator(s).

  • Questions for use before reading a text:

    • What does an author do?

    • Who is the author of this story?

    • What does an illustrator do?

    • Who is the illustrator of this story?

  • Students may confuse the role of author and illustrator.

Due to recursive nature of the standards, it is essential that teachers are aware of how all objectives within and between strands work together for optimal instruction.
