Teacher Insights

|
-
Prepositions are words that describe time and spatial relationships. Prepositions are a key concept in PreK math. This is a good place to tie math and LA together.
-
There are many picture books that demonstrate prepositions and will help students understand these concepts. It is more important for students to have a good understanding of the concept than to identify them as prepositions.
-
The following are good books to use to teach and reinforce prepositions at this level.
-
“Rosie’s Walk” by Pat Hutchins
-
“Up & Down” by Britta Keckentrup
-
“We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen
|
Due to recursive nature of the standards, it is essential that teachers are aware of how all objectives within and between strands work together for optimal instruction.
